Barking and Dagenham supports three Job Shops across the borough, one in Barking, one in Dagenham and a third the Green Lane Job Shop which is situated in Green Lane is delivered in partnership with Lifeline community projects.
The Job Shops offer a free job brokerage service designed to provide recruitment solutions for local businesses.
We can provide assistance with arranging recruitment events, marketing and handling your vacancies and give a commitment to forward on to you only those people who are job ready and eligible to work in the UK. To date over 100 registered businesses have recruited Job Shop clients.
The benefits to your business are:
- lower recruitment costs through access to a supply of job-ready candidates with the right attitudes and commitment
- access to qualified and experienced job brokers who can provide a thorough, careful job matching service and will forward only suitable candidates
- the opportunity to work with us to design pre-employment training that meets your needs.

Business Support
The Council, together with the London Development Agency and other partners, has a wide range of support.
Small businesses in the borough and residents interested in starting up their own business can access support through the Barking & Dagenham Small Business Centre

DABD UK
The DABD service is based in the Training Unit in
Victoria Road, Dagenham, alongside Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club. A range of training courses are available.
Lifeline Community Projects
Lifeline provides a range of training and help with applications, including a personal development programme and image consultancy to build confidence. They are based in
Neville Road, Dagenham.
Tomorrow's People
Tomorrow's People provide a range of advice, assistance and support, including training, for those on Incapacity Benefit or who have a health problem. They are based in
Goresbrook Road, Dagenham.
Gateway to Health & Social Care
The Gateway project provides a range of training and support to residents of Barking and Dagenham interested in working in health and social care, including those interested in working in care for the Council. The team are based in
Barking Town Hall.
